GREEN TEA LEAVES & JASMINE
A poem fragment written in the fall of 2002

("I gave all my asters away now even the fruits are poisoned for years I did not know what was going on but it seems the terrible loss it was not what I expected not like that at all I’ve been trembling even still but nothing will help if you’re not here to see the losses of this kind now give me sunflower seeds or anything that will keep me here ’cause when I take it too sweet it tries to kill me and it’s more real than I ever would have thought now give me seeds and the sunflower without curing this you will be even more sick and there’s no place to seek for haven at all unless the poison is gone for how long did I think the losses are what they used to be for the life I did not live the years you threw away trying to keep your head clear with tiring nightlife without much romanticism ‘cause of being poisoned all the god damned time these little moments that I try to breathe if the poison still weakens the day all of my hopes are here but I’m too high and I know I can’t let it go on like it wants to go in tongues hurting who were tired to take it anymore with tongues bleeding eventually it hurts to say we were not there only you were and then (turning) at your heels I couldn’t see a thing ‘cause of being so tired I couldn’t tell what it was even last summer everyone kept on saying that it’s all my own crazed illusions and sickness in the heart for christ’s sake now there’s a place to see I’m left here wondering how long has it been going on will this be of any help we in our bodies are here for too long so tired but this brownhaired little girl told me I’m sick and somehow knew what it was and she tried to get me out of it this lovely girl four years older than me one will be cured and healthy god sent her to me how could this…....") for S.V.
